Fouling 2 plugs
Fouling 2 plugs
I'm gas fouling 2 plugs and I can't figure out why. They are the last two on the drivers side (5 and 7). I cleaned and swap injectors from good burning cylinder onto these cylinders and they still gas fouled. Then, I checked the resistance of the wires and they were right around 700-800 ohms (Taylors). Compression is also good in both cylinders. What else could it be? Wouldn't bad plug wires have a much higher resistance than the other good plug wires?
Re: Fouling 2 plugs
You can have a good resistance value on the wire it doesn't mean that the current is going all the way through though. Pull the wire off the plug and verify that you have spark using a spark tester as no load may show fine also. The spark takes the easiest path to ground so it could be arcing out the side of the wire anywhere.
Re: Fouling 2 plugs
What's a spark test? Does it tell you how strong of a spark you have? It's sparking because the plug is never wet when I take it out, I just don't think it is sparking enough to complete the combustion process. I appreciate the help.
Re: Fouling 2 plugs
Spark testers have an adjustable gap you screw out. This puts more load on the wire and you may find your problem. Could be not enough spark out of the opti cap on those two cylinders. How old are your wires and opti cap?
