Fouled plugs in 100 miles, cause?

Well I think I figured out what was causing my miss. I pulled out a plug and it looks fouled. It has ~200 miles on it and it was missing on the dyno so I'm guessing it was like that then too. I had a set of TR55's that looked exactly the same as this awhile ago and changing them out fixed the problem. I'm running Tr6's now. What would cause them to foul like this? And does anyone have any different plug reccomendations or any advice on stopping them from doing this?

I saw your dyno vid. That smoking has to be addressed soon.I am guessing that the valve seals are new.So that leaves rings.Probably the culprit. How much oil is it using?I know thats not what you want to hear, sorry.

My car has never used oil. It's always smoked but never used oil for some reason.

I would keep an eye on the level. The only other cause would be a tune.Hotter plugs may help.Ever do a compression test?

I'm going to do a compression test when I change the plugs. I've been putting it off since I'm kind of scared to see the results.

ha, imagine what kind of results you could see should you determine you're losing compression. kind of sucks if it turns out the rings are the problem - sorry.

That doesn't look like oil fouling the plug, it appears to be black soot from running too rich. What do the other plugs look like???

Robert - get an Innovate wideband 02 meter on there. The best investment I've made so far with my current mods.

Yeah I know it looks like its from running rich, I'm hoping it was from a bad 02 sensor. My tuner tried taking out fuel and adding it at part throttle and where it was was pretty much the best spot. The A/F was ~ 14.6-15.0 when the car was idling on the dyno if that helps.

It's on my list of wants for my car.

I use autolite 104's and would never use an NGK plug again

Care to elaborate? My car has used both and I like the NGKs better, seemed to run a little smoother.

I fouled out a set of NGK's in a few hundred miles aswell. 4 out of 8 looked the same as that. Once an NGK plug gets wet from too much fuel they will never work right again. I don't care to change plugs every week so the autolites solved that and have been great for 2 years+.

I foulded a set of tr55's instantly before so I'm guessing that's what happened. It seems to free-rev smoother with the new plugs but I won't know for sure until I get on it in 3rd gear. I'm giving the TR6's one last chance before I go with the 104's since they are supposidly 1/2 heat range hotter.

I couldn't get the hose in most of the plugs. #1 cylinder was 230, #2 was 233, I gave up after that. And none of the plugs had any sign of oil on them.

did you squirt some oil in there and check again to evaluate the rings
