forward intake

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to make their intake come right off the TB and go straight to the front of the car. Kinda like an LS1 type setup. You would have to get some kinda bellows from an ls1 that hooks up to your MAF, and then to your filter. I dont know if this is even possible. Let me know if anyone has tried it.

i have not tried it, i have seen it done though. The filter was angled a little downward. Other then that, it looked nice. Don't know if the air would be any cooler though. My Moroso sticks down to the front damn...it would be differnt though. GL

if i'm not mistaken, there is a ram air hood that uses a set-up like you are referring to. i wish i could remember what website had it, it was a hood/airbox combo.

Yeah, the air might not be colder, but wouldnt it flow GREAT. I dont know, this is just my thinking, with no ducting to go through. It would just be filter, maf, bellows, and TB. All in a straight shot.

i can completely agree with that. I think you would be right. I like the hood, i just wish that it could be made a 4" rise cowl induction. I think it would look sweet as **** with 2 small slits like that in a cowl hood. O YEAH....

I think I might mess around with this idea a little. How would I go from the circle maf end to the oval TB though, do they make some bellows like that for the LT1. I am sure something could be done. What is the actual diameter of the TB oval opening. Also, how much clearance is there between the radiator shield and the hood when closed? If anyone has answers to any of these questions lets hear em!!

Go to Home Depot, in the plumbing section they sell rubber connectors. A 4" to 3.5" will fit perfectly and it will be a smooth bellows. I used one on my 97 Ram air for a while and it worked great. Oh, just remember to drill a hole for the opti vent.

There is no clearance between the stock hood and the top of the radiator. My ram air box had a 1/4" piece of foam/rubber thingy to seal it to the hood and that was it.

as far as the bellows, get the measurements and go to a welder who works with the type of metal you wanna use. Give them the dimensions for the circle to oval and they will make one. Fabricators are AWEOMSE people to have around man.

ONE MORE QUESTION. What kind of filter can I get that will lay down flat under the hood. I would probably need one that is a flat oval shape.

K&N makes one for the LS1 cars, but you're going to need a ram air style hood for it to fit.

Also, I wouldn't use an accordion sytle bellows, you want the intake to be smooth.

Hey, which end is the TB and which is the MAF. Is the 3.5 the MAF and the 4 is the TB??

CRAP!!!! so your saying this wont fit under my stock hood. This will probably scrap this idea then. I wanted it to fit under my stock hood.
