Thumbs down Formula head light question, please help!

Tonight one of my headlights didnt flip up. So I stopped, popped my hood, and tried again. It came up no problem. But now, when I put the headlights down, the motor wants to keep trying to put it down, even after it has already been lowered. It makes a grinding noise. It wont stop untill I grab a hold of the manual headlight ****. As soon as I touch the ****, it stops.

Whats going on here, and how do I fix it?

There is a plastic gear in the motor that is stripped. You can either buy a new motor on get a metal replacemnet gear from Brent Franker. I would go with Brent.

I read a thread where a guy said he just turned the gear around. Implied only half the gear is being used. First half gets stripped, use the other half. Never Had mine apart to know what hes talkin about. Hope this saves you a buck or two!!

If someone wants to buy me a set of headlight gears, i'll put them in. Then i'll email you and let you know if they're quieter or not

But seriously............ just going to try the temp fix for now. Hope it gets me by for just a little longer. Brass gears will go in sooner then later.

thanks for the help

Cool, let us know if flipping the gear really works. Mine haven't gone out yet, but thats about all I have left to replace on this car before it is brand new again.

Yes it works for awhile. But eventually they will strip and you will have to replace the gear. It is a fix if fundage is low, but it is a temp one at best.
