Ford SVO injectors - Problems?

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=141719

Does this apply to LT1's at all? I know a lot of people run the SVO's but would anyone here not recommend running them because they dont fit quite right in the LT1 as well? I've heard a bit here and there of this but am hoping someone is a bit more knowledgeable about the SVO vs Stock injectors.

I do know i'll have to reprogram the computer a slight bit to compensate for them running at a lower psi.

Theyre SOOO much cheaper than the stock sets I see!

Also how reliable/unreliable are these injectors? Theyre not flow tested or anything... But if I were to get a set that were flowed to +-3% its like 300$+! Is the flow testing really that critical?

They dont fit quite as well as stockers for the simple fact you cant put the stock clips back on that holds the injector to the fuel rail... they seemed to be identical size-wise and I run mine w/o problems.

Will I need to get new clips? Or is it "ok" to run them not clipped to the rail...

Re: Ford SVO injectors - Problems?

I ran the 30 #ers on my 93 for 4 or 5 years with no clips, no problems, theyve been on my 97 for a year now no problems , no clips, no burnt pistons.

The reason the clips done work is not length , but the lack of a groove for the clip, the injectors are the exact same length as the stockers.

I think the clips are more important for holding the injectors to the rail at the factory than they are in the car, with the rail bolted to the intake the injectors are not going anywhere. I have run without clips for over 50K over the last several years.

They're physically alike to the LT1 injectors. LS1 injectors are shorter and narrower by a tad bit.

Like 96caprice, the clips are unneccary. I took mine off when the SVOs went on. They're bolted in place, clips are redundant

havent had a problem with mine, and i put the clips on just for the sake of it. I kno it doesnt matter since they wont be going anywhere but just did it anyway.

Re: Ford SVO injectors - Problems?

Great, I think SVO's are the way to go for me
Any suggestions as to where to get them from? And as per my post about http://www.slponline.com/view_produc...RTNUMBER=23051 would these be sufficient? They 99$ because they have not been flow tested. Is flow testing them to within +-5 or 3% really that neccessary?

Re: Ford SVO injectors - Problems?

Those are LS1 injectors if I'm not mistaken. The LS1 runs higher fuel pressure so the flow rating will be lower when used in a LT1. Besides, 25lbs is basically stock.

Re: Ford SVO injectors - Problems?

Go to Corral.net--it's a Mustang forum and you can find used 30 SVO's there all the time. I ended up getting mine for $135 from there--only had 5,000 miles on them. Otherwise, if you want to buy them new try THIS place, they're the cheapest that I found.

Also, as far as them fitting, I just took a dremel to them and extended the ring around the injector, clips slid right on and it only took a few minutes to do them all.....

If you can't find a set of good used ones , new ones from Summit or Jegs are just a few $s over 200$, If I remember right after handling and all mine came to 231$, but that was a year ago. I bought my set on my 93 used for 120$
