Fogging oil for long term storage?
Fogging oil for long term storage?
I am planning on storing my Z28 for 1.5-2 years and have all the basic "winterizing" tricks done to it. My question is should I spray some fogging oil in the cylinders to keep any corrosion from forming in the cylinders? It will be covered and tucked away in a clean insulated garage, but it is not climate controlled. Thanks!

I would look to fog it running so you get the valves too and then choke it out if you can. It will run with the boot off the TB just so long as you unplug the MAF from the harness. Would probably consider replacing the valvesprings when it comes out of storage or maybe go so far as to back all the rocker off when it is stored to save the springs so half are not compressed and to stop air circulation in the cylinders.

Those are pretty good ideas. Any chance you or someone could turn it over every few months? Not start, just bump the starter. Throw some Stabil in the gas and give it a chance to run thru. Might change the oil so it sets with new oil (old oil has acids that can eat away at your bearings if the motor is not rotated). Stuff rags in the tail pipe to discourage something from nesting in there, put mothballs in the trunk and passenger areas, make sure your carpets are completely dry...just a lot of common sense stuff.
