FNG with car problems. Pls help (long)
Ok, it all started with a sluggish, wanting to die at idle, starving for fuel camaro. It had started running bad so I decided to do a tune-up: all new filters, plugs and plug wires. Heres the list and part numbers:
Wix oil filter #51069 $9.31 my cost $3.60
Wix fuel filter #33311 $21.17 my cost $8.50
Champion Plat. plugs #3013 $5.07 ea. my cost $1.87 ea.
Borg/Warner plug wires 7mm #CH7854 $118.63 my cost $40.12
K&N Cone air filter #E1009 $113.54 my cost $48.46
1 cs. Valvoline 10-30 $38.40 my cost $ 20.64
Glad I work for Oreillys DC!! Anyways... Changed everything except the oil and filter so far and it started running worse!!
A really bad dead miss showed up and I figured I had a wire crossed even though I replaced them one at a time as to not do this. After checking the wires and plugs for correct gap, I listened to the injectors and found one not working. Replaced it with a Borg/Warner FI #57151 @ $120.32 my cost $48.07 Whew! Well now the injectors are all working but the hard miss is still there!
I dont know enough about these engines to know where to go from here. I have just finished cleaning the IAC and need to put it back in. Wierd thing is, with it running so bad (cant break tires loose on wet street) it is not throwing any codes at all!
I am asking you guys for any help you can give me. I am used to working on my K30 4x4 with a 6.2 Diesel. Please help..... TIA
Steve
P.S. its a 95 Z28 LT1 stock with the exception of the parts listed above.

Well I did check the voltage at the plug on the injectors and they all show 12.8v. I also used a long screwdriver to listen to them and they are all clicking. One thing I am thinking is that the number 2 inj. which is the one I replaced, is last in the "food chain" or firing order and being that the primary fuel filter was REALLY clogged. Maybe since I changed the filter it allowed more fuel flow suddenly and the tank strainer got clogged and there is not enough fuel pressure so the #2 injector may be starving for fuel still.?
What do you guys think? I have a new strainer on order which Ill pick up tomorrow and change. If that has no affect, guess Ill have to have it put on a diag. machine. How hard is it to change the oil pan gasket? I heard you have to pull the motor
Is this true?
Thanks!
