Question Flywheel - buy new or resurface old?

I am going to be purchasing a Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch Kit for my 97 Formula M6. (Please don't try to talk me out of it - LOL)

The car is on it's original clutch (as far as I know - I got the car w/ 47,000 miles on it)

I just need to know - should I resurface the existing flywheel, or buy a new flywheel (be it SLP or Centerforce etc etc)

The kit comes with the clutch disk, pressure plate, and the throwout bearing is in included. SPECS: 11in, input shaft 1-1/8x26

BTW - the new flywheel from centerforce is $347.69
the new flywheel from SLP is $355.00

What would everyone recommend ??

Yes, you can resurface your flywheel, as long as you didn't slip the heck out of your clutch or run it down metal to metal .
I did a clutch at 62000 miles and it cost me about $25 to resurface it at the machine shop. Although it you are looking to buy the slp one, i believe it is a few pounds lighter, if you don't mind spending the extra $300.

If you do buy a new flywheel make sure you get a shop to balance match it with the stock flywheel.

I hope you've done a search on that clutch that's all I've gotta say about that.

Yes, you can and should have your flywheel resurfaced.. there's no reason to buy a new one unless you want the "characteristics" of a lighter flywheel. You don't NEED a new one for any reason.. some people just feel that they are a performance upgrade.

Thas all I have to say about that and I "used" to have one.

If its not too bad you can get away with cleaning it off and just bolting it up. I resurfaced mine once. I hear you dont want to do it every time as it can get too thin.
