Flywheel bolts??

How many flywheel bolts are we supposed to have on our LT1? I labeled all bolts, but I was only able to find 4 bolts for my flywheel, however I noticed that there was 7 bolt hole areas. I have 2 short bolts and to medium sized bolts.

I am trying to get my engine balanced by tomorrow.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Flywheel bolts??

There are 6 bolts. The other hole is for a dowel pinon the flywheel.

Re: Flywheel bolts??

Thanks. I found the 6 bolts. Hopefully they can balance the motor. I still was not able to find the crank snout bolt for the harmonic balancer. It shows that there is a specific size plastic washer that is needed with the 7/16 x 2.12 bolt. It looks like this bolt is only a special order item.

I don't remember the washer being plastic, but who knows.

Re: Flywheel bolts??

I found the specs in the How to Build LT1/LT4 engines on page 8. Then in the rear of the book it says make sure you install the bolt with the plastic washer. It says make sure that you DO NOT install the crank bolt without the plastic piece. I imagine its more for spacing.
