Fluidampr shim?

Fluidampr sent a keyed shim with the dampner, is that needed? I have a double row timing chain and a 24X sprocket and EFI connections timing cover. Do you just install the dampner until it mates flush with the timing cover?

It is not needed for engines with the CPS (which yours should have). I believe the instructions tell you that.

It didn't come with squat for directions. I'm now wondering if even without the shim, it'll stick out too far due to the 24x crank reluctor. EFI connection recommends a 96+ vortec balancer.

I think I had to run one on my '95 or else the fluidampr was really close to the optispork.
