I had an american thunder exhaust on my car and I liked the way it sounded. The only thing I didn't like was it wasn't loud enough but that was partly due to my stock exhaust also (manifolds, cats). I loced the way it sounded at WOT, made people get the **** outta my way

Well i first bought my car it had stock manifolds, dual cats and a flowmaster sounded good now i have Mac headers,OR pipe, and a 3 inch magnaflow exhaust it sounds ok at idle but as soon as you drive the car and get on it ,it has that tin can raspy sound that i cant stand...So i was going to go back to the flowmaster, but was talked out of it by MUFFLEX .He's going to be maikng me a custom 3.5 in from the y-pipe back into there spintech muffler with dual 3in tailpipes so i hope that cures my problem and from what i hear thru him is to stay away from the flowmaster it hurts performance on a LT1 it was designed fro the TPI cars.So i trust him he is one of the best exhaust shops around...

My car had one when I bought it, lets just say this...I detached the "cat back" part of the exhaust

no, it doesnt sound too bad. I actually enjoyed the way it sounds, but now I'm too in love with way my car sounds now to put it back

FLowmaster

Popping is good. My 40 series increased the performance and the sound. Great recommendation to have someone control the trottle while your enjoying the sound effects.

Just had my son drive while I was behind in his BMW. WOW! Popcorn is music to my ears...

I love my Flowmaster. It pops and crackles like you guys said, but only at HIGH rpm's or when it's real cold. The Flowmaster gives a great idle sound. After cats are cut out, a Flowmaster can make your car sound like it has a mild cam in it. I'm very pleased with it.

I had a flowmaster on my car when I got it. The exaust was bent a little(the car was in a mild wreck). So I decided just to cut it off in front of the muffler. It still sounds the about the same. Actually when at idle, I think it was louder with the Flowmaster on it. I thought with no muffler it would be loud. It is louder at WOT without the flowmaster, just doesn't sound as good.

I think flowmaster has a good solid performance with it's exhaust. If you compare the sound of a flowmaster vs. other aftermarket mufflers...yes..flowmaster is a bit more tame with its exhaust sound when its on a factory car. Yes, it does crackle when the car is started at cold. Once warmed up, I think a flowmaster muffler sounds just as good as any other muffler. Put some Headers on and you'll really hear how your Flowmaster muffler opens up.
The bottom line is what do you want? A great sounding car? or Performance/HP gain? I think Flowmaster has a satisfied quality of both sound and performance.

Slap some Headers with those Flowmasters and you'll fall in love.

here are some clips of my car with stock piping and a magnaflow muffler on it....i love the sound but i am thinkin of going with a loudmouth set up for some extra hp and sound. hopefully it wont be too raspy since i dont have headers and i have both cats....
