Re: Flowmaster exhaust install and now no power?

Flowmaster system part# 17274. Anyway it sounds good but seat of the pants and true life I'm sure is gonna be a difference in the negative direction. Thats why i thought maybe trying the LT4 module thinking timing retard from the noisy exhaust was what was killing it. Temps were and have been the same when installation was done and the difference is night and day. Anyway thanks for the help...

try taking it off then and see what happens? Maybe if you didnt clean the old honeycomb material out correctly, it could be jamming up in the baffles in your muffler. So even if you do take the muffler off, it may solve your problem. If this is the case I would be blowing some high pressure air through the muffler, REVERSE of flow, with the muffler off the car.

A good way to gut a cat is to break all the **** out of it, then start the car and give it a couple revs to blow any remaining pieces out. It sounds loud as hell with no muffler on it too btw.

When i gutted the cat it was as complete as you can go with it..nothing at all was left. Then I re-installed it on the car. Anyone have a stock system for trade?

Maybe the muffler is defective??? Get the shop to cut the muffler off and see if that helps. If not, the problems is farther up the line. It's the process of elimanation

you probably lost some torque when gutting the cat, got a little more flow so your power band has moved up in the rpms. try doing a quick line lock burn out to get the tires going, then let it loose and you'll probably burn farther than you did before.
