flowmaster catback exhaust

I can get a pretty good deal on the flowmaster catback system for my 1996Z28. I want to see if anyone hear currently has it and what they think of it. I'M also interested in the SLP loudmouth system. Its more expensive but ive heard pretty good things about it from others,

Any opinions would be great..

Re: flowmaster catback exhaust

I've heard all good things about either of those exhausts. I currently have a hooker cat-back setup and I love it. The main difference between any setup, I think, is mostly in the sound. My hooker cat-back is rather mild sounding at idle and part throttle (which I like) but really wakes up the neighbors at WOT!

Try finding some sound clips of those exhausts to determine what you like. Also, if don't already have - get some headers to go with it.

IMO, if you can get the flowmaster setup for cheap, save the extra cash for something else (Headers!).

Good luck!

Re: flowmaster catback exhaust

most will say that the flowmaster exhaust will hurt you instead of helping you, but my buddy with a 2000 Z28 has gutted cats and a flowmaster muffler, sliks, and a 100 shot of NOS and is running 12.8 at 113mph. Now, if the exhaust kills ya as much as peepes on here say it does, then i'd love to see his car will do with a recommended catback. I'd say go for the Flowmaster if its cheap and you think youd like it. I love the way a flowmaster sounds. Very aggresive!

FM has a great sound. I'm currently selling a complete exhaust setup from my TPiS long tubes back. 3" Y pipe, 3" piping with a 3" cutout where the stock cat used to be, into a series 80 FM and exiting into 3.5" stainless steel slash tips...

Re: flowmaster catback exhaust

I've got the Flowmaster American Thunder cat-back system. It sounds awesome, and is pretty loud. I don't know about it not freeing up as much power as other systems, I don't race my car, it just looks pretty. It is fairly cheap, and the only thing I don't like are the turndown tips. They might have changed those though, and if not it's cheap and easy to do yourself.
