Flow Numbers and pics of home ported heads!!!
I just hope that all this hard work pays off when I go to the dyno. I am not looking for a dyno queen, but something that will make good power, and run great at the track. I guess we will just have to see. When we get the car dynoed, I will get the numbers posted along with a copy of my dyno sheet. Thanks again for the replies.

Last I knew Brian was planning on getting a baseline file from PCMforless and I was going to do a little tweaking on that for him on the dyno.
Anybody care to make any guesses on what this thing will put down? Got a shot at 400rwhp/380rwtq maybe?

Hey, I know you from Ottawa.
It was a hell of a long time ago, but I was the tall kid in the green Z28 with the wing. I'm guessing 370-380 RWHP and 410-420RWTQ.
Dr. Mudge,
As what LS1_03 said above, I will be running a Comp XE 236/242 on a 112. I originally was gonna run the GM847 cam, but changed my mind when I talked with Thunder Racing about it. Also, Dan K will be doing my dyno tune for me. I am going to get one of my free lifetime update programs from PCMforLESS and then Dan is gonna tune it for me.
Chuck,
Thanks for the compliments on the heads, and I cant believe those pics of the your local porter's heads
. I spent alot of time on these heads because I wanted to make them look as good as possible. Alogn with making them flow good. In a post I made a couple of weeks ago, I had said that I spent about 52-55 hours in these things. I then spent another 8 hours or so port matching and blending it back into the port. I raised the roof somewhat, not sure how much, but enough as I thought I could.
I sure hope I can get 380-400 rwhp with this setup. The problem is, I am making bets to how long my 4L60 lasts. I dont think it will be too long, but that is what FLP and their Level 4 is for.

Camaro92RS- Those are great #s! If you don't mind could you tell us all exactly where you toke out material and what kinda shape/contour you were trying to simulate in the ports? Any tips from your buddies at the shops you could pass along would be helpful too
I'm looking to port a set of heads(not exact type as yours but I figure the basics apply to all heads) and would love results like yours.
Also I'm new to the whole 4th gen scene so what is the original volume of the intake ports of those heads and how much you think you opened it up?
Thanks again! Your tips are appreciated.

Allgonoshow,
I will post back later today on what I tried to do with the heads. Alot I took from different heads that I saw, and tried ti incorporate some of it in my heads. But I will see what I can come up with tonight after my classes.

Well its not that easy to explain. I think if you are to do your own heads, have someone there that has done it before. You can very easily screw up a set of heads, and if you have absolutly no idea on what to do, dont do them. A friend of mine did alot of the rough cutting on the heads. I did some, but I was too afraid that I would take out too much. We opened up the bowl and throat area a fair amount. We enlarged it to the size of the seat opening, and gradually tapered it down to the floor. I then stream lined the valve guide bosses to help with flow. I made them alot smaller than what was cast, and enlarged the area around the guide on both sides. I really didnt do alot with the short turn radius, just smoothed it out. For the intakes we put the gasket on and scribed the outline of the port onto the head. From here we enlarged the port to this size, and blended it back. We also raised the roof on the heads, but I am not really sure how much. I need to do some more studying for a test tomorrow, but I will think about it some more on what we did to them. If you want, send me an email and we can talk about it.
