Flow Numbers and pics of home ported heads!!!
Well today I was able to have the heads flowed that I talk about below. I had them flowed on a SuperFlow SF600 bench, and they were flowed at 28" water, just like everyone else does. The heads flowed alot more air than what I had expected. So you know, a friend of mine did the rough cutting on them, and then I came in and did all the contouring, smoothing and shaping of the ports. This is my first time doing a set of heads, and was a little bit nervous at first. But once he showed me what to do, it went fine. Well here at the before and after flow numbers. I know there is some moron out there that will call BS to these numbers, and if I had a scanner available, I would scan the flow sheet too.

Here is about the heads.
Well over the last few months, a friend of mine and myself have been working on a set of LT1 heads for my up coming project. The pics of the ports arent that great because the heads were allready together and I couldnt get much light in the bowl area. I used Manley Race Flow 2.00/1.56 valves, valve job, milled the heads down .005, and all the other good stuff. For the valve job, he didnt do the normal 3 sharp degrees for the cuts(30,45,60). The cut has many many little angles, and when you feel it and look at it, you can tell that it is a complete radius with now sharp cuts. HE said that this will help alot with not disturbing the flow. Its hard to tell from the pics but we streamlined the valve guide boss, removed material where necessary, and smoothed and contoured the whole head. I did some smoothing on the short turn radius, and opened up the bowls a fair amount, to where it needed to be. The guy who helped me through the process, happens to build alot of engines, and has his own low 7 sec Dodge Avenger Prostock car. He is a family friend and he offered to help me with the heads. To complement the heads, they will be going along with a ported intake, Comp XE236/242, hooker long tubes, and all the other bolt ons.

If those numbers are legit, your one of only two people that I've seen do VERY well with thier own heads, congrats!

The numbers are legit, and you really doubt me, call Mike at Hi-Flow heads at 1-708-396-0505. I was just there yesterday, and tell him that Brian Black sent ya. Also, as I mentioned before, I did have some help on the heads, but he showed me where to remove material, and shape etc. If you ask him, he says that I did 85% of the work on the heads.

Click that for the picture of his flowchart for his heads. I'm hosting it for him because he couldn't upload it correctly. If the above link does not work, click the link in my sig and go to the "Brian's T/A" album and you'll see it.
