Flashing SES

I was hoping for some imput on the blinking SES light that comes on every once in a while. Really it only does it maybe once or twice for about 15-20 seconds every other day or so. I understand that the blinking function indicates a misfire condition but does that mean the the condition only exists at or during the time that the light is flashing or not? I have been having a problem with the P1441 code for the Purge flow of the evaportative emissions system. That codes only pops up maybe once in 2-3 days and I either use a little scanner to clear the code or just disconnect the negative on the battery. I've replaced a few vaccum hoses that are associated with the purge switch and solenoid. I have also pulled the switch and tapped out some little peices of the charcoal but am still getting the code and the flashing SES. Any help/input is appreciated.

P1441 is telling you there's a vacuum in the system when the EVAP purge system is supposed to be off. Charcoal in the system would indicate the canister charcoal has broken down and is getting pulled into the system. Could be the purge solenoid stuck open because of the charcoal, could be the vacuum switch is too badly plugged to operate correctly, could indicate you have the hoses crossed on the two connections at the purge solenoid.

Did you verify the hoses are connected to the solenoid correctly?
