Fixing a oil leak.

Alright im gonna try this again. lol sorry. No the leak is in the front, its like dead center front right were the crankshaft is. Im thinking it is the front oil seal that needs to be replaced. If its not that then i have to go through the trouble of taking apart the cover of crank shaft and seeing if its coming from in there.

sorry about before i was just trying to see what would be easier doing the transmision or this. I did the transmision without any problems and im not smart when it comes to working on cars. But if i did the trans i should be able to go through this, right?

I wasent real specific because theres definetly more than one seal. Hopefully this is a little bit better to understand

Before you go blaming the rear main seal, I'd check the rear of the intake manifold. They have a tendency to develop leaks there, and it will run down the back of the motor possibly looking like a rear main seal leak.

Is it leaking at the front or rear? I assume rear because you're talking about taking out the transmission once before but to be honest, I'm not really sure what you're talking about.

Front seal should be easy, but you're going to need a three jaw puller to get the balancer off, and a puller for the hub, and a damper install tool to put the hub back on; don't beat it on with a hammer. You will need an impact gun to get the hub bolt out, too.

It should be a fairly quick job an hour or two but you might want to pull the water pump and opti and replace those seals while you're in there. If you do all those seals it could take and extra hour or two. Just make sure you read up on the correct way to use a hub puller on these cars or you can break the hub and then you'll be down until you find a replacement. If you do the other seals read up on the correct way to do the water pump seal as its very easy to put it on wrong and then you'll have to rip it all apart again later to fix the problem. I think I spent half a day doing all three of front seals, removing the oil cooler and replacing the oil pan gasket.
