Cool Fixed the problem

I have jumped on many threads and started several others with no solution in sight despite the help of several people here. And thanks for all the input.

Recap: After LT header install, the car had a rough idle, and surging in open loop. Ran much better in closed loop, but rich and a hair rough. No codes, hard to find the problem. I know several of you have the same problem. Finally went to the dealer after it finally threw a rich bank 1 code for a brief while. I figured it would rear its ugly head eventually. Anywho..broke down and took to dealer since they had scanned it and said they would investigate. Then got runaround..well with performance parts...we don't have the tools..blah blah!!!! I told them to put on new O2 sensors anyway.

Fixed it instantly. If you do headers, change the O2s and tune the beast asap. I am finally happy after several months of banging my head.

Yeah, go figure, some obviously do and some don't. It may also have been that I had to wait for o2 sims and ran around without them for a while.

Yeah when I added my lt headers, it killed my set of o2s with only 50K on them.

YOu mentioend to get your car tuned up ? My car pcm is able to keep my car at 14.7 at idle becuase it doesnt dip down to 108 BLMs anymore. It stays around 110/112?? DO I need to tune it to get it closer to 128?

I don't know how to answer your question as I am new to tuning. What I do know is that I was running very rich based on the wide band O2 readings. Fixing that got 10 more horses out of her. And I bet with the new O2s there may be some more hiding in there. I hope so.

Hey I believed you, I just want one of your tunes. I honestly figured it was something that would finally break or something, but want as good as I can. My DSL modem took a dump on me.. so I will touch base with you probably next week when the new one arrives.

Well at WOT I am running pretty rich on a wideband o2 reader on the dyno. But at idle the pcm keeps me in check.

I could still benefit from a tune as well. glad you got your car fixed

That sounds like a leak in the exhaust and maybe a burnt plug wire. Mine started fine, then went into a cycle of low rpm rough idle to the point of stall then jumped to a smooth idle and started the cylcle over again. After it reached closed loop, no problem except a hint of rough idle.

I had a leak in the y pipe joints for awhile, and it definitely stunk. My wife complained when I got home that I smelled like gas.

97formula, are you throwing any codes... your obviously running rich... as am i, but ive had my long tubes for quite some time now. i need a tune bad. if i were you id try replacing your o2's... wouldnt hurt. hell when i got my lt's in i just reused one and bought another one new... i did this because one of them was broke, but the other was still intact. im starting to think that i should have just bought two new... i guess its a new o2 and pcmforless for me...

but as your not being able to spin them from a stop... i think stock lt1's should be able to do that.... so i think you may have something else wrong there....

no

I dont have any codes (no ses light) i do have a small leak in my headers...@ WOT the car doesnt use the 02 sesnors so i am thinking it must be the leak in the header gasket causeing my problems

PS all plugs wires and coil are new X2
