Unhappy Fixed 1/2 of the huge problem i had today, need help for the other...

ok guys, well earlier today i had a car running on 7 cylinders and tonight i found out that one of the wires was not connected to the opti completely and put that on, checked the rest-solved.

on to my second, more serious problem...

the transmition WILL NOT shift at Wide Open Throttle. it goes all of the way up to 6400 RPM(my rev limiter) and sits there until i let off. im clueless, i sent an email to Bryan Herter of PCMforless for a new program lowering my shift points and firming my shifts even more, but wont get that until tomorrow night. now, the tranny has 124k easy-driven miles on her, well, 117k until i got her and i've given her some hell as expected.

aside from her beginning to **** out, can anyone tell me what could be wrong? i am not looking forward to a rebuild b/c i cant afford that as a part-time working 17 year old, i'll be out of comission until summertime.

any ideas?

I had a "similar problem" with my tranny. It would go up, but the car started to hessitate at the top end, and it would not shift at WOT, I had to let off a little for it to shift. I changed my plugs and wires, and it is back to normal from waht I can tell.

But I 'm not sure if this is realted to the problem you have bacause I knew I also had problems with the ignition, but you only seem to have a problem with the tranny.

I know some one that had a problem simialr liek yorus and it was the tranny going out. I guess you have to wait till you get the programing in and see what happens.

time for the bad news...that puppy needs a rebuild. I had the exact same problem. Had my tranny rebuilt in July, by Oct it was missing shifts...car would just rev and rev and rev. I ended up burning up some tranny fluid. Pull the dipstick and smell it, if it smells burnt ur well on your way to being immobalized. i took mine back to the shop that built it and they tried to tell me that it was a PCM problem and that a 4L60E transmission doesnt shift at WOT. I thought that was the most obsurd thing i had ever heard. What car doesnt shift at WOT, nonetheless a SPORTS CAR. after that visit i dogged the hell out of it, it didnt take long before i started getting some really rough shifts and just felt unsafe to drive it. Needless to say i got my warranty rebuild out of it after lots of bitching and arguing. Ever since the rebuild i have had 0 shift problems, although they wouldnt tell me whats wrong....also my car wouldnt downshift and had no engine braking. And apparently according to Norcross Transmission a 4L60E doesnt have engine braking. I am the founder of an F-Body club in atlanta and rode up there with a 99SS A4 and the guy at the shop refused to ride in the car to prove that the trannys shift at WOT, i thought i had the only working A4 tranny and 15 sec timeslip in the country ( its fun to drive down the track in 1st gear at 6300rpm ) so i would look into a rebuild, and make sure you get a WARRANTY.
good luck
