Fix for scratches in your windshield?????????

Well i dunno exactly how ,either by my stupid windshield wipers or by dirt or something on my window but my new window i had installed after my old one got cracked by my damn windshield wiper(long long story) it seems that recently it has gotten scratched by the wipers in a couple spots and is pissing me off to no end .I wanted to know if anyone knows of any places that sell something or have a how to guide or anything that could help fix these scratches. Ive lookedc into a couple places and the best i have found is a window polish for light scratches but im unsure if that would work. Does anyone know any places in the philadelphia pa /nj area that do anything like this... Thanks in advance ,this along with many other little problems like this is making me wanna get rid of the car and buy a beater civic or something.........!!!!!!!! help

How deep are the scratches?

You could use Bon-Ami or Comet with some water & try to polish it out, but if it's too deep you'll have to take it somewhere. I think http://www.eastwoodcompany.com/ sells a professional glass polishing kit if you want to spend some $$.

General rule of thumb is that if your fingernail can catch on it, you can't polish it out.

They are very light scratches really nothing major but you can see them. Have you ever tried this comet thing out ?

I wouldn't think Comet would be good for any kind of optical surface, it'd likely make it worse. They sell legitimate glass polishing compound but I've never used any. You will need felt pads and a high speed rotary tool like a dremel I'm sure.

Might want to try posting in the appearance section?

The Camaro owner's manual says to use Bon Ami.

Try barkeepers helper. It is a very mild abrasive that won't scratch the glass. Also, you might want to try some Zaino glass polish. I've never used it, but based on their other products, its worth a try.

I work in a detailing shop and have come across many windshield scratches. I have used the glass polishing stuff and chances are if you can't do anything with your fingernail or a razorblade and some glass cleaner it needs to be profesionally done. My camaro has some big scratches on the windshield and i have tried everything under the sun including the glass polish with a buffer and it didn't touch it. Never tried the comet stuff though?

I have a bottle thats 95% full after a year if that tells you anything. It works well for waterspots but its utterly worthless on any kind of scratches (despite what their website claims).

I've used the Eastwood professional window repair kit. The material/paste is called Rhodite and you use the thick felt-like pad on your drill to work it into the glass. I've smoothed scratches and a wiper blade gouge with this stuff.

Bon-Ami or Barkeepers friend probably isn't going to polish scratches out of glass. It is recommended because it does not scratch the glass but it does clean it very, very, well. The abrasive in both of these products is cornstarch, not hard enough to scratch glass. There are optical polishing compounds out there, try one of those.

I've got marks from my wiper blades where the metal clips hold the blade, like 6-8 little lines that I cannot get out with glass cleaner. You can bet I'm going to go home and look for bon ami and start with that!

I've heard getting it professionally buffed can really do a bit too - anyone know how much that usually costs?

EDIT:

Bon Ami comes in a can (like comet) and is a powder. You can get it at some hardware stores and almost all grocery stores walmart/kmart/target stores. You wet the surface, sprinkle some on, and use a lightly dampened cloth and gently rub. The logo is "Sine 19XX - hasnt scratched yet!" and has a drawing of a baby chick getting out of the egg on it.
