What I would do is cutoff the axle tubes on the 10 bolt, and weld them to the 8.8. Roughly the same width, I have an 8.8 sitting under the lights in my garage waiting to be rebuilt... if you need measurements of the gear casing I can get those to you.

The trouble I see is welding a torque arm mount to the cast housing.

Larnash, thanks. i'm interested to know the measurments of the gear casing, but what are they and what i will need them for? also are the 8.8 axle tubes larger in diameter than the 10 bolt's? how about welding the brackets for the springs and shocks will that be easy using the 8.8 axle tubes? what will happen if you weld the torque arm bracket to the cast 8.8 housing?

my friend told me to use the 8.8 rear end of a mercury grand marqeez not the one for a mustang since the one for the grand marqeez almost has the same axle tubes length as the 10 bolt's where the one for the mustang has longer axle tubes.

do a search in Advanced Forum, you may find what you're looking for. I think this was discussed there about 3-4 months ago.
