i was at 75-80 dragway and the weather was nice and chilly, this is my first time at the track:

my best time that night were
1/4 14.29 @100.69 mph
60 ft 2.29
330 ft 6.14
1/8 9.32

i am having problems launching. does anyone have any tips for me?
i was wondering, does the 100mph trap speeds mean that if i learn to launch i can get 13's?
again, please break my 1/4 down and give me tips please

my car is a 95 1le camaro, its a 6 speed with 3.42 posi
has k&n induction, hooker cat back, aluminum ds, short throw shifter, 275's all around

 

you need a set of drag radials.Did the car bog of the line? With traction you can pull off a 13.6 with that trap speed. Where are you shifting at?

 

What probs are you havign launching? Bog? or Spin?

Try to get you 60' time to 2.0 or below, and your in 13's.

Its more of a practice thing, but letting us know how your launching will make it easier to help.

 

Nice mph for so few mods. Looks like you got a 13 second car with just a K/N and a catback.

 

i am having spinning problems, i avoided the waterpit, and i didnt do a burnout, i am runnin street tires,

on my 14.23 i eased it into 1st, like 1000 rpms and let it catch,

i tried launching it at 2000 and 1500 but the rear just spun em.

i am shifting around 5700 rpms, i dont like to rev it that much but i heard the lt1's will get better times runnin em up that high. is that safe reving it that much? that redline is so close

 

I would invest in some drag radials. That's about the best mod I did for my car.

 

A good rule of thumb is every tenth reduced in 60' time equals 1.5 tenths reduction overall..get that 2.29 reduced to a 2.0, and you should see ~4.5 tenths overall reduction. That equals a solid 13.8, which is where I think you should be Get some drag radials, you won't blow the rear pulling 2.0 60's on DR's

 

Avoid the waterbox like you were doing but do a short little burnout (2-3 seconds)just to warm the tires a bit and clean them off. Also, try shifting at around 5200 RPM's instead of at redline because if you go past the power curve of the motor that can actually slow you down in the long run so you're better off shifting sooner than later. Look at sig for my times and notice I got the same 60 foot time but 2 tenths faster 1/4 mile time, so you should definately be in the high to mid 13's with proper launch techniques. Was it a street night or was it test and tune because that makes a world of difference too due to track prep.

it was a test and tune, but they do the 9 second cars too, they alternate from the class races to test and tune, so im pretty sure the track prep should have been at its best.

 

Test and tunes are usually the worst for track prep.
They know there are going to be street radials tearing up the track so why do a good job prepping?
Now the nite before a BIG race you can get some good traction cause they have to keep the track prepped for the race.
