First time at the track
First time at the track
Did my first run on track today, it was with my street tires, 255/35 18 and the best time was
reaction 0,059
60 feet 2,298
1/8 8,812 85,6 mph
drived in a 8,5 - 10 sec class and redlight in the final with -0,003 sec
(only 20-25 cars)
Should have seen it comming My reactiontimes were 0,280 0,429 0,069 0,216 0,063 0,059 and -0,003
the best trap speed was 86,33 mph on a 9,191sec with a 2,578 60 feet.
this with stock converter and 3,23 rear.
now to the big question, What times do you think i can se with dragradials on stock 16*8 rims? and how much will a converter with 2200-2500 do after that?

That darn 8.8 8.8 8.8
I'm getting street ET's also. Plus I bet that 8.8 will go away with the 150 shot.
good luck

I dunno much about gains with stalls though.
You never know till you try!

You very well may be right, i usually look at 1/4 times though which should amplify that even more so i cut back to just .1. At least we both agree that shaving off the 60 will save even more on your overall time, i just try not to get too optimistic when 'internet racing'. Drag radials are really sticky, you might pull a 1.90, but like i said, you never know until you try.

... and a converter is a must for a 1/4 mile car...
DR's at a well prep'd track and a converter should net you very low 8's. If your 60' is not below a 2.0 preferrably below a 1.9 with DR's, then you need to budget some money for suspension upgrades. With the correct suspension setup, converter and DR's you will definitely see low 8's. Oh, and definitely do not go lower than a 2500 stall. The 2500 will be completely streetable if that is an issure, trust me, I had a 2600 in my daily driver for years. HTH
Drag radials are a must for the track. I cut some 1.9X sixty foot times on them the other night at the track. I also think they are safer, because sometimes street tires can spin so bad that you *could* lose control of the car. The chance of that is less with drag radials.
Also about the torque converter. Go with a 2800 converter from Midwest. www.raceconverters.com I love mine, plus they are quite a bit cheaper than other places. The one I got has a 9.5" housing, 11" lockup section, heavy duty bearings, looks to have an anti balloon plate, etc. You can get one just like it for well under $500 shipped. Plus I really like the way it feels on the street. I like it better than the stock stall.

Some stickies and a good converter (say 3000) will get you real close to the 8.0s and possibly a 7.9 if you dip below a 1.9 60 foot. You have to practice launching though to get that feel for how far to mash the gas. My launching tech is to hold the brake bring it up on the converter and on the last amber I let go the brake and move the gas to the floor, not hard but about continuous paced movement til full mash (takes practice to figure how fast) But I have a simulaly modded car to yours and I run the times in the sig, I do have longtubes and 3,73 rear gears, but I am running a cc305 and AFR 190cc heads.

dont no if should get a tq now but planing to order some E/T streets or dragradials to the stock 16/8 rims soon, is it a big diffrens beween the 9,5 and 10,5 . I understand that the 10,5 hook harder and also are harder on my rear end.
wich one should i go for? and why?
only planing to run them on the track.
If you are intrested i have posted the time slips on http://home.koping.net/u3243a/tidkort.jpg
the speed is km/h not mp/h
Km/H / 1,61=mp/hreally pleased with the R/T on the 5 matchrace (not the last of course)
