First time out w/carbed LT1
yeah that 2000 launch will prolly cost you around .2 in the 60'. more in the whole qrtr cause your missing out on a running start and alot of torque
I had a similar problem. I have a 700r4 from a 3rd gen. so it has a TV cable. after swaping in a 3800 stall, I was previously goin 12.2x's on the old 2800 full size stall pulling 1.8-1.9 60's. swapped in the 3800 and went 1.6x 60's, but stayed at 12.20's. after that I knew something was askew, so I started fiddling around and recording some "pass's" on the street with my tech 2. found out I was only at 80% throttle due to my TV cable not allowing the throttle to open all the way. looked more like 70% to the eye though looking at the blade. anyways, next time out was 2 weeks later just a tad cooler, but close. 11.75-11.8x is where all my runs were. only difference being the throttle now all the way open.
oh, and I got one run 1.56 60 foot thanks to WOT. so get back to the track already under full power and get a real baseline. if you got old school distributer, then whats the base/total timing set to? I almost always got best times with 18 base timing and 37 total timiing. its always a good starting point anyways cuase it'll be snappy throttle and close for most all SBC's that arent real high SCR.

I run an old school Comp 9000 distributor in the car, since I have so little time on the car I never put a timing light on it yet. I plan on spending a half day at the chassis dyno in the near future to get a better timing baseline and jetting check (I appreciate the timing advice, as I would never gone over 35 degrees total myself).
I took the car out again and ran a 12.551 at 108.01, I changed squirters a few times but the bog was bogging me down again. Still launching at 2k to get this time.

Cool build, I have always wanted to build a mild carbed LT1 for a classic and back it up with a T-56. The FI guys are so quick to jump on the carbs saying their so out dated and the people using them are stuck in the past, yet they know nothing about a carb, how it works or how to tune it.
yeah, since Im not having much luck selling my car yet, Im prolly goin to pull the eng. this winter and install a stock longblock and keep the shortblock/heads and sell off the vavletrain and get a solid roller and a carb intake. but mine will be big solid roller and single plain. already got a msd6al and distributer, and wil prolly buy a 850HP carb. stick all that into my iroc after I finish gutting it and putting a roll cage. drop a big 200-250 shot and have some fun. till the 10 bolt breaks. then its save up some cash again for a 9". it would be a track only car.
curious, do you got the accesories on there still? I saw madman makes a cool bracket to mount the alt. to the block and eliminate the huge bracket and hanging the alt. over the valvecover. only prob. is you give up your power steering too. but my iroc has a manual gear box in it.
sounds like your well on your way to a cheap street/strip terror though. have fun with it.

I mounted my alternator low on the passenger side of the engine, I've been refining my bracket but I think its close now. I don't have a powersteering pump.
I did find the bog this weekend, I did every trick I could think of to the carb and I set my timing to 35 degrees (baseline) and between the two adjustments the bog has vanished. The car felt a ton quicker so hopefully next time at the track it will reward me with some positive results.

cool. we'll be waitin to see the results. and possibly cooler weather this time around?
that alt. setup is the same Im plannin on running. my iroc has manual strg box. madman racing makes an alt. bracket that will relocate it down there and eliminate the p/s pmp and huge bracket on the pass side of the engine.
got any pics of your eng.? post them up or email them to me if you dont know how to post pics.

well 107 wont get you there, but consider that you have a m6. those always trap a 3-5mph higher then exact same eng. with a auto behind it.
It'll be faster and quicker next time to the track, the timing was at 28 degrees, the carb was not properly jetted or tuned and I was shifting at 5400 rpms, those changes and some chassis work will get it there.
i still agree. with chassis setup and improved 60 times alone, you could get close, then add in your power gain by the further tuning, better air and there's no question you'll likely hit 111mph and somewhere in the 11's.
I finally made the return trip to the track this last weekend and was rewarded with a 12.306 at 109.80 mph time ticket. I haven't seen the car in about a month and the only tuning I've been doing was eliminating the bog and I put on a pai of the Summit brand rear adjustable race shocks. I had pretty consistant 1.65 60-foots as well. I still haven't made it to the chassis dyno, hopefully this week I'll get it there.
IrocSS85, coul you please post the pics?
thanks
