First to Second shift is squirrly

If I accelerate hard taking off after I catch traction (foot pedal a past 3/4 to the floor) when the car shifts into second gear the result is the tires not only bark but a short screech lay a good 1-2 foot strip of rubber and the rear end snaps to the left quite a bit...everytime it does this it startles me and I let off the gas...

I don't know if it is something wrong with the car's suspension maybe, or I am not used to this thing yet or what, I have had it only about two months and havent put many miles on it to get to know the car well. I am wondering if anyones car does this too. The tires still have some meat on them, they are Goodyear Eagles.

It is a (100% original/stock) 95 Z28 A4 with 3.23 posi

So it is just something that I can improve upon with some modification, but nothing broken!... that's good news!

It feels like If I didnt let off the gas then the car would spin out...I have a healthy respect (scared) to do it

My car is also a A4 with 3.23 but mine is a 93. Mine will bark pretty well and will slide slightly but not enough to make me lose control. It was odd yesterday getting on the highway ramp i floored it like normal but i got a slight chrip shifting into 3rd with a 100% stock car!!!!

I THINK I heard it chirp going into third once...haha It could have been my imagination... probably was

I am going to have to find some secluded place and try a full throttle take off where if I spin out I wont hurt anyone...and see how the car reacts...and get used to it

the car is a lot of fun that's for sure...GLAD I got it!

You got it better than I do, I can't floor it in 1-3 gears, the only gear i dont spin in is 4th (t56)

I cant floor it either...most I can do is give it slightly past 3/4 pedal on take off after i get some traction if thats possible in this car...if I floor it ...it wont stop spinning ... if I floor it at a roll from 20 -30 it will spin like a crazy fool....for about 20 feet ..30 feet ? something like that..

it is a hard car to learn...sorta...yet fun!

edit: I forgot to mention that dead spot I read these A4's have...and I have noticed it twice..once I just entered/merged out on the highway...and it hit that dead spot where it wouldnt downshift (unless I floored it)...dead is a good word for it too...definately have to get used to that ...

Wink

Yes Sir..wheels too!

edit: seriously though yeah they are Goodyear Eagles with plenty of tread left , have reciepts they are less than a year old...I guess they are decent tires...they are not Z rated although the car came with Z rated tires so the original sticker says, the lady that owned it before me didnt need the Z rated tires she said...

so I dont know if Goodyear Eagle HP's are as good for traction

maybe some drag radials are in order, if i get the traction then the **** end wont squirl on me like that ?!

hope not...

tires

A good set of DR's will do the trick.Just a standard size that will fit your rims and in the wheel well. They will suprise you.

I am really thinking about it but cost (which isnt too bad I suppose) yet the life of the DR tire is no where near others...like the ones that are on there now...??!!

Can I put just two drag radials on there-In the rear? I know there are no stupid questions but that one is close I bet.

tires

Sure. Do you have a 4x4? Put some speed rated front runner's on the front and play Pro street.Don't get VW tires,
they are not speed rated.Don't want a front tire coming apart at 100+MPH.

I've got some hella traction! My friends tell me to do a burnout and it only lasts for like 10ft before i catch and i can't remove my head from the headrest. I'm sure the slicks and QA1's help tho
