First mods

My car has some bolt-ons including headers, exhaust, underdrive pulleys, a chip, electric water pump, and CAI. I am about to start a fulltime job where i can pay car payments and mods at the same time. The car to speak of is a 93' Z28 with about 65k miles. The first things I thought about doing were an engine rebuild kit, new gaskets, new spark plugs and wires, professionally steam-cleaned heads and fuel injectors, clean the air filter, and possibly a 58mm throttle body. I don't know if the engine has enough wear for an engine rebuild kit by Summit Racing (new pistons, rods, gaskets, things like that) or if the engine should be fine and just start adding horsepower. We are talking between $500-600 every two weeks or between $1,000-1,200 a month. Any idea's or comments on something to keep the car kicking for a long time?

65K is nothing to worry about broh. I had 120K when we pulled my original motor out and it looked amazing. It looked like there was only 40K wear on the motor. I also have a friend that only had bolt ons and a s10 convertor with stock gears and his car had 149K on it and it would still hit 13.0 at 105MPh. If you did your oil changes on a regular basis, I would recommend doing the following instead.

1. A cam probably the CC305 cam or 224/236 cam with new valve springs and 1.6 RR
2. Change your plugs and wires and the opti
3. Get it tuned

I think you would be very happy with the results. And you can do what i did, (see sig) put money away save up for a rebuild (a year or so down the line) and go nuts.

My 2 cents,
Claude
