You should take it to the track first for a baseline. I have heard with a good launch you should be in the high 12s.

By the way, that is one hell of a deal dude. I wish I knew people that gave away cars.

Anyway hope everything goes good for ya. Dont mind Brent, hes just mad he didnt get to it first, just like everyone else.

actually I think Brent has a point...your basically looking at the Holy Grail of fourth gen F-body's. You would be better off to keep it as low mileage and stock as you can, then later on sell it for 5x what you paid for it.

I knew there would be people against modding it. Its your car.If it were mine ,I would put headers and a cam in it.That would be it.It has some nice heads, you need to let 'em breath a little more. And yes, keep the stock parts so you can return it to stock.Let us know how it goes.

I am one of those guys against modding it. As for the driving part, it already has close to 90k on it. In my opinion, it wouldn't hurt to drive it. Congrats on the ride. I am in the Dallas area and would like to see it sometime as well.

I say mod away, just save every nut, bolt, and part that you replace. That's an outstanding deal on the mother of all 4th Gens. Have fun, and drive it. Cars like that don't belong in a garage, they should be out on the road being enjoyed.

I am all for driving a nice car when you have one, but if I had an LT4 30th Anniv. SS, it would be parked in my garage and wiped with a diaper. Like said before you have the holy grail of the 4th gen F-bodies. I am jelous, I wish I knew somebody that would sell me one for 7k. I say keep it for a while and then sell it for 4x the price you paid for it. That car is an investment.

I agree with the previous post, keep it for a while, don't do anything you can't turn back into TOTALLY stock (like welding on subframe connectors) and sell it!! Then buy another F-Body and use the rest to put a downpayment on a house or something. Great investment......I hate you!!! :-)

I totally agree but it's probably not that easy for this guy. The right thing to do with a car like that is to hold on to it and keep it in good condition, if any 4th gen camaro is going to be worth big bucks some day it's an LT4 SS. But to tell him to just "park it" and sit on the thing is not that simple for some of us. I'm just assuming he is a young guy (21 or under, no offense just a guess) who is probably lucky to afford this car let alone park it and just buy another. If that's the case I say mod it and enjoy it, just keep all the original parts for it to sell it or restore it some day. Hell I'm 31 and I can't just "park" mine if it was some rare collectible and run out and buy another.......well, actually I could but my wife would leave me I'm fairly certain

Enjoy that killer deal on a sweet car man and keep us up to date on your mods!

Everyone of those people telling you what to do with YOUR car are just jelous! I think you should do what you want with it. YOU paid for it no one else. YOU should decide what you want to do with it.
SOME people on this board just think these cars are god and that there is no replacing a car. Well that just isnt so. I have seen rare cars come and go, its how well you enjoy it is what matters. Think about it this way, you could have a tornado tomorrow and it could wipe the car out. Then you will have no more car. You can either say " I drove the **** out of it and loved everyminute" or you can say "I babied it because I thought it was going to be worth something". Do what you want, but you know where I stand.

I'd say what to do with it depends on what *he* wants to do with it. And remember, with 90k miles it is not going to be as valuable for resale by a longshot as one with 700 miles, ever.

If he wants to sell it eventually, then perhaps it should be modded lightly if at all. However, when I buy a car the last thing I'm thinking about is selling it, especially a muscle car, they are meant to be handed down to the next generation...I know I wish my dad had kept his 68 convertible vette...

Nah, you're wrong. Sure, I'd love to have that car for $7,000 but I'm not jealous... jealous is the wrong word. I just don't think he should mod that particular car or drive it as a daily driver.
