First Impressions of my new Head/Cam Combo

I fired up my new head/cam combo today when my PCM arrived from Ion(madwolf). First off, I am running the car with open headers until I can get to the exhaust shop tomorrow. Here are the parts that I used:
Stock short block
Lloyd Elliott ported LT1 castings
Comp XE 227/233, 560/569 cam
1.6 pro mag roller rockers
Jet Hot Longtubes
I also have the normal bolt on mods.

The car has good idle quality and stays are around 900-1000 rpm. I think that the lope will sound nice when the exhaust is welded up tomorrow, but its nasty loud with open LT's right now. For those that are interested in this cam here are my first impressions. Thus far the cam has some surge issues for me and it isn't the most street friendly cam that I have experienced. My brother has a CC306 in his car and it seems more streetable. Don't get me wrong, the car is my daily driver and the cam is "streetable" from my perspective, but for a lot of people it won't be. The car wants to run around 70mph in 5th gear to be smooth when highway driving, anything less and it is tempermental. As far as power goes though this cam seems very nice. It only wants to pull to about 6300, but it gets there quickly. 1st and 2nd gears are now useless under full throttle and the car pulls very nicely from about 60mph when dropping to 3rd gear. The power does practically die at about 6300rpm though, which is ok with me because I don't really want to turn it any higher than that. Overall, I think once I get used to it I will like this combo very much. I believe that some more fine tuning on the PCM could improve the street manners of the car, but for a baseline mail order tune the car seems fine imo. I would say that Ion did a nice job for a baseline tune on a pretty new cam. Oh well, those are my first impressions. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask away. I should have some dyno numbers sometime next week for those who are interested.

Congrats! What LSA is your cam ground on, I was looking at that cam on a 111, or a 306. I would be very interested in dyno numbers/track times, as I will be running lloyds heads as well.
Thanks,
Brandon

The cam is on a 112 LSA. I opted for that LSA because I occasionally run nitrous. For those who are interested here are the flow numbers on the heads:
.100- 66.8/52.1
.200- 136.9/103.5
.300- 194.5/131.8
.400- 241.4/160.1
.500- 266.6/179.3
.550- 269.6/186.1
.600- 271.7/191.2

I think that the cam could be more street friendly with some fine tuning. Like I stated above, my brothers car has a CC306 is it is much smoother when highway driving. Hopefully after I get some dyno pulls and get an idea of what is exactly going on Ion can do some more PCM work and smooth it out a little.

The surging should be able to be tuned out no problem. There's more than a few people running around on bigger cams with no surge.
