Fireworks

I was reading about starting your car in the dark and popping the hood...........well my spark plug closest to the firewall on the drivers side has alot off sparks going on all around it. How do I fix this problem? Is this why my car is running like crap? Thanks -AZ28

your wires would be a great place to start.
Over the top valve cover kit, but first take the one off the header primary that is melted and grounding out.

The wires are not very old. There are sparks jumping right around the part where the wire plugs into the back of the plug. -Az28

yep its on. i just went out to the garage and took off the metal cover that goes over the plug wire end, i guess this is supposed to protect from the heat? i took it off and started the car and there is no more spark. should i leave that little cover off? the closest the plug wires get to a header is like 2 inches, so do i need the little metal covers? -az28

Something else to check

I was having the same problem as you are having now. The back plug on the driver side I noticed sparking around that area. I checked the plug and the wires, and everything was cool. So I removed the metal shield on the plug, and the problem went away for a bit. Then one night, I noticed the problem came back. Found out it was the oil sender (I believe that what it is called. It is a cylinder unit right above the oil filter and cooler) unit wires were burnt though and making contact with my headers. So you may want to check that.
