Firebird Headlight Stop

To those who have fixed it with the nut/bolt combination.

Works fine for me, except when the headlight stays down (off) for about 3 hours or more. Then the headlight gets stuck and doesn't want to come up. I have to manually loosen it a smidge and then the headlight will work fine. Anyone else have this problem?

Well I drilled a hole in the part that had the stop in it. I slipped a nut on there and then had to drind it down because it was too long. Turns out I ground it down just a hair too short so I stuck a bolt on there to act as the stop, and that it does. The headlight motor holds the nut against the plastic/metal part it sticks through.

Use a smaller nut/bolt combo so you can slide some thick rubber tube/hosing over it. The thick rubber tube/hose will help to provide dampening for when the light closes.

Or, try putting the tube/hose over your current setup. What that will do is stop the light a little early AND help provide dampening.
