Firebird Electrical Problems
I have a 97 firebird and when I bought it there was a viper security system installed in it. It does not unlock the doors and is strictly an alarm. It is super sensitive and i have to press the disarm button about 4 times before I can start my car. Recently whenever I press it, my headlights go up and down a few times, and a deep vibrating noise comes out of the hood of my car. I have no idea what it is and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on fixing it?
it really sounds like its installed wrong. then sensitivity really could be the the vibration sensor. There should be a small analog rotory wheel on the device to turn down the sensitivity.
As for the locks and such, i would personally take to to someone to professionally install. There are all kinds of weird BS things you have to do to program it once its in, and to my knowledge DEI doesnt give insturctions out to anyone other than installers.
IE: turn key you aux, honk horn twice, press lights on/off, turn wheel 1/4 turn to left. That kind of crazy bs.

Bump! Thanks for the reply, anyone else have suggestions? I know this car and the alarm(though annoying) worked when the car was purchased several years ago- what could have gone wrong in the meantime?
Personally I would just disable it...
