My friend tightens them untill they are finger tight then another 1/4 turn...is that ok to do?!!
it really depends on what kind of lifters you have as to how far to tighten them.

I would bet part of your problem with the car returning to idle slowly is due to your rockers being tightened down too far. By the time the pushrod stops spinning you are likely way past zero lash...i can spin my pushrods fairly easily at 1/4 turn past zero lash when my lifters aren't primed. You are probably close to a full turn past zero lash.

Don't give my rocker adjustment guide a bad name. You did not follow the instructions:
When you BEGIN to feel drag while spinning the pushrod, you are at zero lash.
That said, you may/may not be too tight with stock lifters (depending on just how tight you started out). People run them from 1/4 to 1 full turn and everything in between. I wonder if the cam/springs you have might overwhelm the lifters, though.

Easiest way to set the rockers is with the motor running. Nothing even comes close to getting them all set the same and you do it in 1/4 of the time.

I prefer to finalize them while the car is running as well.

TransamGt - While the car is running loosen one rocker nut with your fingers until it starts clacking. Once it starts clacking, start tightening the nut up with your finger until the audible clacking noise goes away. At this point you want to give them a 1/4 turn and lock it down. Do this for all of them when the car is warmed up and you'll be good to go.

Did you use the stock length pushrods? Mine are starting to bend ever since I put a fresh set of lifters in. Mine are sealed power lifters.

HEHE I wasn't, you are right, i didn't follow the instructions! lol I tried to adjust them with the car runing but i have the short poly locks and it's hard to get a wrench on them. My brother has the long polylock for his Syclone build up and he want's the short ones so i guess i'll just switch with him!

The lifters and pushrods are the stock 120,000 mile ones if that helps! As soon as i get the car back tomorrow i check it out!

I made that mistake, shortly after my #7 cylinder exhaust lifter collapsed. Change them. The new springs is gonna tear it a new one.

Yea...i will sometime in the future...just don't have the money right now...just spent 1100 bucks at the body shop cause a drunk driver decided to pull out in front of me and then take off right before the police arrived and he didn't have a tag on the vehicle! Anyways i'll probably get some comp R's (the new design) sooner or later (hopefully later)

I'm going to adjust them to 1/4 turn past zero lash as soon as i get the car back...and hopefully that will cause a little less stress on the pushrods and lifters too!

AWESOME, great sounding car and it sure runs great. Im kind of interested in doing a cam a lot lately. How much did everything + the tune cost you in the end? I see the hotcam that comes with most everything you need but i think i would probably get something a little better if i did it.

Also, did gas mileage change drastically i know you've probably been driving it harder lately but... did it drop a lot?

I haven't really driven it b/c it's been in the body shop...

Also I would say i spend between 600-700 bucks

Keep in mind i'm still using stock pushrods and lifters too so that's not in the price! I say the price is good for the gain! And the tune didn't cost a thing, a very generious board member let me borrow it
