Find me an oil pump!
I've read previous threads and am going to stay away from the grenades. I'm trying to find the good part number for a Melling Select pump. I believe the one I want is 10550. (Do I want to swap the spring as well?) If that is incorrect, please share your wisdom! I'm also going to need to know the correct number for the pick-up tube as well. Help me quick, I want it out this weekend!
Re: Find me an oil pump!
To replace stock:
Melling Select 10554 pump (std vol, 3/4" inlet. Should come with Melling IS-55E shaft with metal coupler and additional 70# pink spring-use it).
GM pickup tube, 12550042 (3/4").
GM oil pump drive gear 1103868 (if needed).

Re: Find me an oil pump!
GM part number 13848911. It's a white colored one from the General.
Summit Racing has it for $4 so I guess a dealer might be persuaded to sell it to you for $20.

Re: Find me an oil pump!
You have no need for a high volume pump(10550), it's just wasting horsepower pumping extra oil that bypasses right back into the pan. Just use a standard series M-55A pump which has the high pressure spring already installed - Melling is back to using the heavy duty casting on those pumps and has been for over a year.
That being said, Shoebox is right about that 10554 if you're dead set on the select series....but get the high pressure spring which should have been in the box. I have not seen the pink in a long time, it's green and yellow now IIRC - and being that they have changed the springs around I would be apprehensive using the GM spring as a substitute unless you already have someone who can attest that it will drop in and raise the pressure properly.

Re: Find me an oil pump!
According to the page on Summit, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MEL-10554/
the high pressure spring is NOT included.
When you weld the pick-up on, don't forget to leave the guts out.

Re: Find me an oil pump!
This is what I used after HOURS of research. It's 10% higher volume, high pressure, with a bolt on pick-up, and has a anti cavitation option.
