Congrats on the new personal best

How do you know you have valve float in the high RPM? Does it sound a certain way?

Re: FINALLY BROKE INTO THE 12s!!

Thanks again guy for all the congrats. The reason I think I have valve float is I can feel the car kinda leveling out at 6200 or so. That could probibly be my stock heads restricting the air flow too. But Im kinda uncomfortable with the springs I bought cause they were only 135lbs when they were new and I know that become weaker after you drive them for awhile and mine have been in the car for over a year now and see alot of abuse. I wish I would have bought the Comp 987 springs like I had planned, but everyone I talked to said Id have to machine the spring pockets and I didnt want to pull the heads. So I bought some Crane 1.25 diameter springs and they are kinda weak. Now that Ive worked on alot more LT1s I know that the 987s will fit in the stock pocket my just changing the seats to the ones made for the 987 springs. Also my stock lifters have over 100k on them so Im gonna up grade to some Comp Rs sence mine are getting noisey. Ive got a few more things Im gonna try to get done befor October when the MFBA rents out US41 drag strip. Id like to turn a 12.3 or so by then. I dont know if I can handle a 4.30 gear but IF I get a 9inch Ill be getting 2 center sections so I can set one up with a steep gear and one with a 3.23 or 3.42 for daily driving. Thanks again guy for all the support.

Re: FINALLY BROKE INTO THE 12s!!

turbo_Z, thanks man. 13.0s was what I was running on street tires with 2.2X 60 foots then i got some drag radials and I dropped right down with a good launch. It took me about 8-10 launchs to really figure out where I needed to come out at. With heads and all your car should fly!!! I want some LE heads but I need to freshin up the bottom end befor that sence its got over 110k on it and it was a cop car for 80k of them. Thanks again.
