Few quick ?? on 95 LT1 into 97 car.

I am putting a 1995 LT1, out of a CHEVY CAPRICE, into a 1997 Z28.

Anything I need to change over on the engine, and what do I need to look out for? I know the caprice LT1 has iron heads, but the aluminum heads, and fuel injection unit off the Z28 LT1 is going on my 400 for my T/A.

Just need to get the caprice LT1 into the Z, as smooth as possible

Thanks a million,

Larry

that sounds like it sucks

First off it will be real hard to pass inspection because they dont allow you to put an older engine in a newer car.. if you can get away with that... your going to be installing somthing ina camaro that has a completely different intake, fuel injection, heads, sensors setup. you will either have to install the caprice computer with the engine and adapt it to somhow run your gauges etc... but that is pretty much impossible I think so your best bet would to get a camaro computer and try to adapt the sensors etc to work with the caprice engine unless you just replace the top end and intake on the caprice engine and you will be totally ok... Any questions?

any sensor that was different was changed, but the engine went in with the Iron head top end, and runs very well so far. The only thing that needed changed, was the oil pressure sending unit on the intake? All others matched up.

If the 95 caprice is an obd1 motor you need to change your knock sensor out with an obd2 ks

I wanted to keep the iron heads on the engine, I wanted the heads and intake off the Zlt1 for another project.

I believe the 95 caprices had odb1 engines with an odb2 plug, it would still need a swap of the knock sensor in that case...

If it _was_ a 95, there would be no need to swap any of that.

Putting a 95 into a 96 its a good idea to swap, though 96 into a 95 you are correct you wouldnt need to swap. But in the case of 95 into a 96 you would throw a SES light

ummm, 95 is vented opti, but OBD1, and 97 is OBD2, so, crank sensor stuff should be swapped, but can be tuned out
