Few questions for guys without bumper supports
Well, there was no way around it, the bumper had to come off. We (actually, killerjello
I have finals this week) took it off and put up the bumper cover...
any of you guys expiernce any frame weaknesses? I dont think it will really torque with the cage and SFC.
Squeaks/rattles?
What about the bumper cover sagging?
Also, anyone weight it?
thanks

If you go on BMR's website they made a replacement brace for their project turbo car and its out of chrome-moly and I think it weighs like 14 lbs less than the stock plastic piece. Maybe if you talk to them they might start putting them into production for people looking to save that few extra lbs off the nose. Just an idea
Anyone here that actually doesn't have one on a street car? I'm currently debating on whether to scrap mine or not...
It would be a pretty good hidden weight reduction mod...and with that empty space up there, seems like a pretty good place to hide a bottle.
Just in case...That would be a sweet hidden system...use the foglight switch for activation, then the horn button to spray.
Then you have your CAI right there for a hidden dry nozzle. Seems almost perfect.
Only problem might be getting the bottle out, but if you used a small one it probaly wouldn't be that hard, just time consuming.
Also on the issue of the bumper cover, as long as none of the mounts are broke on the light housing bar, I think it would be ok to run it like that. As long as that part dont break or anything at highspeeds because if it did you'd pretty much be scr*wed. You could probaly fab up some braces if you were really worried about it. Come to think of it, As long as you'd be fabbing up a mount for the bottle and solenoids, it wouldn't be that much harder to just make braces while you were at it.

My 2cents,
While removing the bumper absorber which is the plastic part would not have any affect on flexing or the twisting of the body, the bumper cover will have sagging since there won't be any cushion to support the large nose cover. However, removing the metal bumper reinforcement will allow more twist at the front rails over extended period time because the bar acts as a brace across both rails, furthermore in an event of a frontal crash, while the front airbag sensor may detect a crash but the sensor in the car may not detect the crash since the metal reinforcement can not transfer the impact through the rails. Both sensors has to close at the same time for airbag deployment, a safety issue.
If you're pushing big HP like over 400 or more I wouldn't recommend it, specially if its a street car. I would try to save weight elsewhere.
