Ferrea vs. Manley

I just recently purchased a set of bare Trickflow heads. I will be running comp beehives with them. I am pulling my hair out in deciding on which valves to get. I have no listings of weights for Ferrea valves anywhere. The Manley street master valves weigh in at 103 grams, the race flo weigh in at 109 grams, and both feature undercut stems to help flow a little bit. Price-wise the Ferrea 6000 series are a touch higher than the Manley race flo's, but I've been told they are heavier. I plan on spinning the motor near 7000-7500rpm. The next step up for the Ferreas are the competition plus series, and they are a lot more expensive. Are a few grams of valve weight going to substantially affect high-rpm performance? I am saving a ton of spring weight already by going with the beehives. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

"Are a few grams of valve weight going to substantially affect high-rpm performance?"

Yes.

One way to cut weight is to run a smaller diameter head, or diameter stem.

What size valves do you want to know about in the Ferreas?

Re: Ferrea vs. Manley

2.02/1.60's. The car is going to be a street/strip car with emphasis on strip use. The Manley race valves are around 100 bucks per set with the Ferrea 6000's being a little bit more. The next step up in Ferrea's is the competition plus and they are over 250 per set! I would get them if they were like 80 grams or something like that. But if they just in line with the other lower priced valves (weight wise) I don't think I would see the benefit of the stronger materials used. I don't think I'll abuse the motor enough to need to strongest materials available, I just want the best bang for the buck so to speak.

Re: Ferrea vs. Manley

If you decide to go with Ferreas, let me know. I have a complete set I'm looking to get rid of. Never used. Already have a competition multi-angle valve job and have been back cut by Total Engine Airflow. They are 2.00/1.56 Part #'s are F6165/F6161 They are +.050

Do you really understand what it takes to spin an LT1 that high? the pcm will not do it.
