Felpros Website shows same part # for Camaro and Impy Head Gaskets!!!! HELP!!

Ok if you hit there site up at
http://www.federal-mogul.com

You will see that the Fbody LT1 call for the same head gasket as the 96 Impala SS Head gasket, which is a Felpro Part # 9966PT.

Whats the deal, everyone is saying that the Stock Fbody Gaskets are .049, the GM Impy Gaskets are .029, where as the Felpro Impys are .039, I would like to get the felpro since I dont think anyone will stock the GM. How can they be differnt if there the same part number?

Does anyone have a felpro part number for the Impys besides that?

Thanks

I don't know about the felpro # but the gm number for the impy headgaskets (.0289 thickness) is 12553160....sorry if that didn't help. I just bought some at www.sdpc2000.com

Ok I just got ahold of Felpro and they said there is no difference in the Impala gaskets and Fbodys. He did give me the correct part number for the .039, which is a Felpro #1074 and is a performance gasket that uses stainless steel, he said it is a awsome gasket.

I had the same issues and just bought the GM one. The Felpro one is thinner than the stock F-body LT1 gasket (0.039 vs 0.049 I think). As for whether one is better or not, I don't know. If you want that bump in compression, use the Impala gaskets.

So what's the compressed thickness of the 9966PT gasket?

How are the GM impy gaskets quality wise?

I've got the .039" Fel Pro gaskets on mine. Still a little more compression than the .049" F-Body GM gaskets.

The GM f-body is 0.049, GM Impala 0.029. Felpro just makes one in the middle at 0.039 for both applications.

So then Fel pro only makes a 0.039 thickness??

I am asking cause I am only changing 1 head gasket due to removing the head to stripped spark plug threads. I guess it is not big enough of a difference to make a difference in the compression.

Mmmm I would go and run a stock gasket...

I don't know if I'd want 2 different piston-head clearances on either side of the engine...

I went with the 9966PT and noticed no SOTP feel. they fit no problems at all.

Well you can't really expect to feel much difference by getting just new head gaskets and raising your compression a tiny bit...take it to the track and see if it did anything
