Felpro gasket problems?

I have a 96 trans am and just did a LT header job, well tried copper gaskets and they SUCK, then i went and got some felpro 1470 gaskets, and the passenger side gasket sealed up perfectly and the driver side gasket sealed up except the middle ports are leaking, i loosened the header back up and re torqued them and it is still leaking , what can i do, or should i get earls gasket? anyone know what to do?

I use felpro 1406 with HOOKER LT's.
Never had a problem with gaskets leaking.
Maybe your flanges are bent?

Are you sure your header flange isn't warped and that in-turn is causing the problem?

sometimes you can cut the flanges in between the ports.

I always use 1406's...pacesetters are cheap so I would be supprized if it is warped. But it can be fixed easy...you just have to take it back off.

That should be checked before installing the headers. You lay a straight edge all along the flange on the gasket side.

its just the middle ports on the driver side on the bottom of the flange that is leaking

FWIW I heard the same, but checked my pacesetters (still sitting in my room) a while back after hearing that. They came back straighter than straight. I think it is good practice to check stuff like that however.

To the OP I would try the earl crush gasket before pulling it off. I might even have a spare laying around to try it out with, if you pm me.
