Don't hop straight to the opti. Start cheap, check plugs and wires, coil and coil wire. Possibly the EGR valve. See if your car is throwing any codes. How many miles are on the car anyway? If under 100k the opti should still be good but cars are unpredictable. Just tryin to save you some money instead of you putting down around 200-300 bucks on a new opti and have it not fix it. To make your car run lean, you have to have your car tuned or reprogrammed.

I had the same problems. I replaced plugs, wires, fuel filter, cleaned the air filter, replaced transmision mount(???), and evetually did the opti just so I wouldn't be stuck somewhere. It runs fine now.....but maybe I listed something you haven't done. Oh and I replaced the coil. Hope you find the problem.

hmm... the problem only started AFTER the plugs and wires were changed. soooo.... im guessing bad plugs or wires. this most definitely sounds like an arching plug wire to me but a bad plug will do the same thing. what you should do is start your car up at night and pop the hood to observe any arching or flashing from the plugs. small glows are nothing... what you are looking for is lightning archs.

remember... just because something is new doesnt mean is works.

Ok i just found out my EGR was blocked off already! So i tryed unplugging it and putting the other tube back on and nothing changed at all. Now this started after i changed my plugs and fuel filter, now the guy didnt put any of tht non conducting grease stuff on my plugs, could tht be what the hesitation is??? I will go buy spark plug wires tommorow, i just need some recomendations, throw a couple names at me so i have an easier time finding a set.

Well I know for myself, I replaced the plugs and wires with the AC Delco parts. Factory parts usually last a while. But I have the same problem still. It's not the plugs, wires, fuel filter, or air filter. I don't think it's the opti, based on how it's acting. Any more ideas?
