Fastest LT1 in the world?

Fastest pump gas or 110 LT1/4 with boost or n2o or whatever.
With the LT1 or LT4 intake. Ive seen the green TA LT1 but he has a dif. intake manifold. Im looking for one who still runs the LT1/4 intake.
Websites would be nice.

Thanks
Dan

Re: Fastest LT1 in the world?

The quickest I've heard of is around 9.7 at 156 mph. That's a 355, small cam and heads, LT1 intake, T-88 turbo at 25 psi (approx), and a T56. I'm building mine to run a quicker ET than that, but don't think I'll break 150 mph.

Re: Fastest LT1 in the world?

I went 9.8's @ 140+ with a LT4 intake in 2004. Taner went like 9.4's @145 with a modified LT4 intake. He now has a Hogan sheet metal intake.

As far as the fastest with a non-stock intake....that would be Rick's car. 8.08 @ 172 ish.

Why does the intake matter? The heads aren't GM castings on these cars.

As long as it has a LT block that's what makes it a LT motor.

I agree with that completely, at that level almost everything is going to be aftermarket or modified. If it still has the LT1 specific block its an LT1 in my books.

Re: Fastest LT1 in the world?

Very true.
But what Im looking for is a car that has gone 8's on a GM LT1/4 intake manifold. Im going to keep my GM intake and I was looking for a car to compare to. Understand what Im saying?

Thanks,
Dan

Dang, I forgot about LJ. 9.47 at 148 mph on a ported LT1 intake, even using the stock ECM. Vortech YSi for boost but I think he's running 18 psi or so.

I do see the point of asking the question, as the LTx intake manifold is generally considered to be a hinderance. Sort of like asking, how fast can you go using stock heads.

I really believe that you can get in the 8's on a stock ported intake. Take a car like LJ's that has an auto and launches well, swap to a turbo, and up the boost to 25 or so and I bet it would get there. But. . . the faster you go, the more a single plane or equiv will help.

Baxter ran 9.03@155mph in a 3,900# 30th SS convertible, LT4 intake and Canfield LTx heads. 383 with 20# of Vortech S/C boost. That was in 2001. Chris Secora went into the 8's with an LT1 in 2003. Don't know what intake he was running though.
