Fastest LT1

You'd have to specify what makes the car "LT1" powered IMO. Most go to an aftermarket head casting & get rid of one of the physical things many would say makes something an LT1 - the intake manifold. If you're going to another head casting and swapping to a converted supervictor etc., then IMO it's just like any other small block chevy - with the benefit of reverse cooling
Some are running hard with the GM intake, i.e. Mindgame who's posting again, but he does have a converted set of 15deg heads.
SO... it depends on what makes an LT1 an LT1, and if that actually effects it's output IMO

ron dukes car is a CR5 block and heads, and went 8.52.
Chris Sikora went 8.96, with an auto and a blower
Joe Overton just went 9.57 last week ALL MOTOR baby!
and an auto
the only thing that makes mine unique is i am still running the original T56 and also the LT1 intake, mine has gone 9.60.
new times a comin'
it is very cool just to be mentioned amongst the faster cars!

Damn, I didn't know LT1s were 502ci!

For several years, the top guns in LT1 were Dave "Sled" DeLuca, Brian "Madman" Jeffrey and George Baxter. Sled (N2O) and Madman (ATI S/C) ran low 9.1x, 155's. Baxter (Vortech S/C) ran 9.04@155mph, in a 3,900# 30th SS convertible. That record stood for almost 2 years, until Chris topped it. George's engine made 1,125flywheelHP - engine dyno proven. 4-bolt LT1 block, Canfield LT4 heads, LT4 intake, Hooker LT's, TH400, 9-inch rear.
I think that the informal "rules" (we actually sponsored a "Fastest F-Body" meet) were LT1 block, 23deg heads, stock "style" suspension... all components in stock location, torque arm, etc. No clutchless trannies.
Madman has since switched to a Gen 1 SBC, running well into the 8's., and George has done the same. 383 Dart Iron Eagle, Brodix 23deg heads (limited by PRO/Edelbrock Xtreme Street rules), Vortech S/C. The car has put down over 1,000rwHP, and weighs close to 400# less than it used to. We took it to Steve Spohn's shop on Saturday for some "stock style" suspension tweeks... should hit the track in about 2 weeks. The PRO/Edelbrock class pretty much requires that you run at least 8.40 to be competetive.
I have some pictures of the car and engine available... it still looks like a stock 30th SS convertible, except for a large spoiler and the chute mount. I need clearance from George to post the pictures.
