fans wont work,checked everything!

i can only get my fans to come on when there is a ses light on.i checked the relays, power to the relays, water temp sensor on water pump, fuses ect.any ideas?i just turned off my evap canister code 26,and now the fans never come on.that code would only come up while sitting still so it worked pretty good as a crutch for the fans not comming on on there own.

A 1995 has no power to the relay socket with the key off. Maybe you need to look at some schematics. So far, it looks like you have no problems with what you have described. You can find lots of info about the cooling system and fans on my Tech Page in the "How To's" section.

i followed you instructions for testing the cooling fans, but i dont realy know how to read the schematic.how do i check to see if the ecm is telling the fans to turn on?
p.s. programed to turn on at 185 deg for low and 200 for high.freescan has verified the coolant temp sensor gets above that.ive been renting a car untill i get all these issues resolved, so any help would be great.

You use a scanner to check. You still are not saying why you think they are not working. If you have read my site, you should know what temps the fans come on. Are you waiting until the engine reaches those temps? That is where most people go wrong. They think the fans should already be on, but the ON temp has not been reached.

Then, I would say the programming may not be what you think it is.

i set it myself. its deff set at 185 low,200 high deg F.i was thinking, i never pulled my fan fuse when i programed with tunercats,i just tried pulling it and reprograming the ecu, no change.the fans used to come on for a split second when tunnercats started so i know the computer is capable of turning the fans on.how can i check for the ecu signal that turns the fans on?

I know that TTS Datamaster will tell you when the fans are commanded on. I don't know about Freescan.

I would bet your not making it up to temp. Try programming them really low, to make sure you are getting above the setpoint temp.

the temps are set to 185/200 so when freescan says the water pump coolant temp sesor is reading anything abouve that the fans should be on.ive let it get up to about 220 just to make sure.

shoebox,i was just wondering where in datamaster i look for the fan on command, i looked but didnt see it,so i called them up the chick who answer the phone said that the program ee for a 95 didnt detect the fans comming on,but i believe you before i believe the chick who answerd the phone.just dont want to wast one of my 20 logs!thanks.

On the right side of the DM display, there are 12 configurable parameters you can monitor (double click the cell to get a list to choose from). Fan 1 and fan 2 rly are two of them. The digit will toggle from 0 to 1 when it is commanded on. Of course, you can watch the engine temp at the top of the screen.

ok ran datamaster and it never acuated the relays for fans one and two, i reprogramed fant teps to come on at a low temp, aprox abient and still nothing.could this problem be caused by not pulling the fan fuse before programing? alot of people seem to have this issue.damn i hate to install a switch for the fans, but i guess thats my best option.

shoebox, if you read this is there any way i could here a little about how you know so much about the f body?helping all us must be like a full time job!did you work at a dealership and are you retired?thanks so much for not just your help on this issue ,but with everything youve done for the fbody owner.seriously, thank you.
