Fans on constantly after programming

Finally got my car programmed, thanks rodrigues, and we set the fans at 74/80 for low and high speed. Now my fans are on alllll the time, when the car starts up and hits the first line on the guage the low speed come on, then when its halfway to the "normal temp" line, the high speed come on. I have a 160 stat, and 74 degrees celsius is 165 fahrenheit. Im thinking the temp sensor for the PCM might be bad. What do you guys think? Maybe something else is making the fans come on? This program on his car (rodrigues) doesnt make the fans come on all the time.

I think 165º is too low. Even a 160 'stat car is going to run ~170º or more normally, unless the weather is really cool. 160º is only the opening temp of the thermostat, not the running temp of the engine.

185-190-ish would be plenty good, IMO.

on the highway my car runs at 175 reading off my scanmaster so the computer says its running at 175. you definitely want the fan setting in the 180+ range or they will run all the time.

He said that his fans turn on 30 seconds after he starts the car cold. I dont think thats enough time for the coolant to reach 165 degrees is it?

Probably a trouble code turning it on, then. Much like people get with an AIR pump problem.

At 160º the thermostat is just BEGINNING to open, I have one of the lowest fan settings used and I start my #1 fan at 179º, many use 185º for fan #1, fan #2 on my car never comes on, its not even needed IMO, not where I live anyway.

So I should check for codes, and reset them to a higher setting then? I didnt think that because you have a 160 thermostat, it doesnt mean the engine runs at that temp. Im not sure why the fans are coming on so early, it might not be as early as i think, it may just seem that they come on right away, Ill check it out tomorrow on a cold start.

Yeah I'd definitely say that fans coming on at 165* is too early. With a 160 stat, my car runs around 170ish. I set my fan to 180, or slightly above that, the secondary fan @ 195...
