Clearance valve covers for Pro-Magnum rockers???

Just got done installing my Comp Cams Pro-Magnum 1.6 roller rockers. I was trying to get the valve covers back on and it was quite a chore. I noticed the "webbing" where the guide bolt hole there are a couple marks where the it must have been hitting the rockers. Should I just cut that "webbing" out with my dremel or will that cause the valve covers not seal properly? Or do I just finagle the valve covers on and leave it alone?

I cut that webbing out with a tin snips. They fit much better after that.

So would this cutting/removing of the webs be mandatory? I'm installing the same rockers soon.

Yes you need to cut only that one side..If you cut both you wont have any support brackets inside the valve cover and you may cause a few leaks..

the support hits the fulcrum(part that spins on the stud) so you cut out the support that it is hitting... should be the longer of the 2. and like said above.. just cut that side only or theres a chance the oil will leak past the gasket and smoke on the headers every time you drive.

Look at the bottom of this page (not f-body, but still LT1) . Bend them, don't cut them out and you won't lose any support and cause leaks.

I just installed the same rockers friday. I just sniped the "webbing" out completly and ground the rest down with a dremel. No leaks! :-D

Strongly agree with Shoebox, do not cut them out completely or they will leak through the top bolt holes, and they will not seal well at the gasket area either, and the valve covers will crush trying to keep them sealed.

If you have the time, work on those covers till they fit, I took a grinder to mine. If you dont have time, get ready to buy another set to make them work, or get some LT4 covers.

Just out of curiosity, what are the differences between the lt1 and lt4 valve covers? Are the lt4, cast aluminum?, composite, or just differently designed stamped steel parts.

They are a composite material. Lots of room on the inside. Different gasket. Uses studs and short screws.

Here is a good look at them. The guy with the site (Wilson) had to modify his LT4 covers to fit his stepped guideplates. You don't have to modify them in any way for flat guideplates.

They will muffle the rocker noise a little, but don't eliminate it.
