Factory exhaust manifold

Has anyone heard of polishing and boring out the original manifolds in place of putting headers and going through the aggravation? I spoke with someone who said a shop in ATL does this and power gains are made.

Re: Factory exhaust manifold

I think for the amount of time and effort to put forth to make a minimal gain, Id rather just buy a set of LT, but thats just me, Id be interested as where the Port?

Re: Factory exhaust manifold

I was looking at LT's and want to keep all of the factory hookups. This deal with the manifolds was passed on to me by my father, but the headers are what I want. I need to research and see what parts & mods i would need to make to install the LT's. Thanks

Re: Factory exhaust manifold

there are many LT's that have all factory emmision hookups. i know you will need 02 extensions for sure. how much do you have to spend on LT's?
WHat exhaust setup are looking into? LT's-Ypipe-Catback, or LT's- true duals?

Re: Factory exhaust manifold

No matter how much you port those manifolds, you still wont come close to seeing the gains LT's give you.

Re: Factory exhaust manifold

I heard of someone doing that a long time ago, he was going for the sleeper look. I acually heard good things about it for boring and polishing stock manifolds if your going for a true sleeper, but for time, gains and effort wise, get headers.

I have been looking at the Hookers or Edelbrocks w/y- pipe. I have a hiflow cat and hooker aerochamber muffler that sounds great. I have to sneak these things on without the wife knowing. The car is only a weekend driver.
