Are F-body LT1s the same as G-body?

I need some parts for my 96 LT1. I've found some on an Impala LT1. Are the LT1's in Camaros/Firebirds the same as Lt1's in Impala's and Roadmasters and the like?

Basically the same engine (excluding the "baby" LT1), but the Impy's have cast iron heads and a milder cam. Look through this article for some of the differences:

The accessories are different in some cases also. The power steering pump on heathers 94 engine we put in her 88 was form a caprice and has a totall different PS pump and different alternator.

Just a minor correction to the question that would be B-body not g-body. The info given sofar is good I would like to add an easy to overlook item, the crank hub is different to match up with the different accessory mounting depth, that changes again for the 96+ cars with OBD2 and the crank sensor.

Exactly what parts do you need and we can give a more definitive answer.

I was looking for a used set of heads I could port. I don't want to do it to mine in the event I screw up and I don't want my car to be down for that time. I figure I could sell mine for whatever I paid when I'm done.

The iron heads on the b-body motor flow as well as your stock 96 aluminum heads, they weight more and will drop compression a bit though so not many f-body guys will consider using them. They do respond well to porting though much like the aluminums, the aluminums particularly the 95 and earlier while flowing less stock have more material to work with and in all out ported form offer more potential. The irons should only be about 35lbs. more than the aluminums if you still want to consider them.

According to magazine articles, the LT1 iron-heads actually flowed slightly more than the aluminum heads on the LT1.
The iron-head engines got the vacuum vented Opti-Spark in '94, where the aluminum head engines got it in '95.

The 96-7 aluminums finally caught up to the irons in flow, before that though they did flow about 5% less. The vacuum vented opti is a good point.
