Re: exhaust too loud

Everytime I come/leave and my neighbors are outside with their kids, I get the look of death from all of them and they all just stare at me and they are holding their kids. There is this kid with a civic up the street who nails it on our street and I always drive slow/cautiously. It's ridiculous. If you change your exhaust after spending all that money, they won't hesitate to try to make you change other things they don't see "appropriate" as well. It's your choice, your car, your house, your garage. Not theirs.

alright ive narrowed it down to either flowmaster (dont know which series or chamber) magnaflow, or random tech does anyone have sound clips, believe the new cam is also making it louder.
before when the motor was stock i had mac headers and oryp w/corsa sounded good it was perfect, its just too loud for me too.

Re: exhaust too loud

Here is a clip of my car with stock everything besides Random Tech cat back

I could try to get a clip of my car with the headers etc. with the catback system instead of the cut out open.

Here is a sound clip of it w/ the cutout.

Here is an LS1 with headers, y pipe and the Random Tech cat back

And here is one last one

Ditto. I wouldn't hack up my Corsa if i was you. I'd just add a cat and that'll really quiet it down and make it sound a lot better.

I get those looks to from my neighbors. They even called the cops on me because my car was too loud. Let me remind you I had the car running for 10 minutes with open headers just making sure I did the install correctly. I retaliated a couple of days later by doing a big smokey burnout in front of their house.

Re: exhaust too loud

A few questions:

What kind of cat would you guys recommend for a stroked car with long tubes and a corsa?

What kind of HP loss are we talking about?

Is the location of the cat going to affect it's performance? I was thinking of putting it at the end of the Y pipe.

Thx

These are the cats. I used, the fitment was pretty good http://216.178.81.107/iwwida.pvx?;it...0%201?comp=ppe
Other people use the Carsound cats. model no. 94109
HP loss will me very minimal if any.
The location of the cat. can be an issue. If the cat. will not heat up and operate properly, it may eventually become clogged and pose a driveability issue. The idea is to mount it as close to the headers as possible.

Get the cats as close to the engine as possible so that they heat up and light-off like they are supposed to...otherwise, they will fail prematurely and clog. The Magnaflow cats are very nice and will take the harsh raspiness away...plus the raw fuel smell will go away too. HP loss is really negligible - especially when the cats are working (i.e. flowing).

Re: exhaust too loud

So is the end of the Y pipe a good location? If not, do I have to get a custom y-pipe made with two cats in it?
