Question Exhaust shop and !cat question

Will an exhaust shop even do any work on a car that obviously has not cat on it? I'd like to get my intermediate pipe welded, but I'm curious if they are even allowed to work on a car with no emission stuff on it.

Thanks

The main issue that shops have is that they will get into trouble if they remove or defeat smog equipment but if it is already removed then I believe that their butts are covered. Try the smaller (non-chain) shops and ask some of your freinds about who is good to work with (referrals like cash also go far)

Just find a small independent shop and tell them that you don't need a receipt if they do the work.

I've taken my car into the local chevy dealership here a couple times and I don't have cats. They never say anything but they charge me a $5 environmental fee . But we don't have emmissions around here. I don't think they would care since they aren't removing the cats but I guess it depends. Just call around it never hurts to ask.
