exhaust questions
1) My car needs new cats. i don't want to spend a ton of money. I am in kansas and don't have to worry about emissions. Can I get away with taking the cat at the header off and emptying the other one. Assuming I can do this and still be ok, will i need to use o2 sims. I have no experience with 02 sims. I am assuming I keep the front 02's and swap in the sims in the rears.
2) I want to put a muffler on my loudmouth. I was thinking about putting a hooker aerochamber 3 in. muffler where the resonator is now.
I was hoping to make it a little quiter and still have a good deep sound.
Also, I know it won't make it any quieter but has anyone ran one of those chambered mufflers that summit sells? How different will the sound be. It would be nice to have a different sounding car. I like the old nostalgic sound..so if i can get this, I may go this way.
thanks

Dude, Right now your stock exhaust is hurtin bro.
Save up the dough and spend about $300 on a catback system.
You only need to get a $300 catback and $60 Catco high flow catalytic converter.
You can save headers to later if you really have to...
I got my magnaflow fully stainless steel polished system for $250, One three inch catco converter for about $55 and a summit cutout for $30.
Dont just weld new cats to a crappy old system, get all new and make it nice

1) You can get away with gutting your cats, but you will need O2 simulators in place of the rear O2 sensors.
2) I don't know if there's enough room under the car to use a Hooker muffler, but I do know people have successfully used a Dynomax bullet or a Borla muffler.
Keep in mind if you're trying to make your exhaust quieter, gutting the cats is not going to help that.

There woulp probably be enough room for the hooker muffler. I have two spin tech mufflers under mine. Check my site for picspics of exhaust
Either gut the cat or have a straight pipe welded in. If you want to replace it, a catco cat like mentioned by djk19 is fine. A better suggestion over a Hooke muffler underneith would be to replace the resonator with a Dynomax Bullet or Ultraflow. Those would fit better and quiet your exhaust some and keep an aggressive tone.
